Sunday, April 11: “Hearts Set on Things Above”
We continue our focus on Paul’s letter to the Colossians. In today’s passage Paul calls his readers – and us – to live in light of the resurrection. Having been raised with Christ through faith, we are to set our hearts and minds on things above. We set aside the things of death, and instead put on the new self, which is alive in Christ. What does that mean in our lives today?
Live Stream worship begins at 9:30 AM. Please go to this page (https://stjohnslutheran.net/live-streaming-worship-at-st-johns/ to download the handout, and to link to the live stream itself. We will be streaming on our Facebook Page as well: https://www.facebook.com/sjlcnapa

A Health Update From Pastor Mark
My recovery from lung surgery is going well, just slower than I had hoped. I am gaining strength and learning to adjust to having 20% less lung capacity. From a surgical perspective all the cancer has been removed. From an oncological perspective that is not absolutely certain. I am being referred to the cancer center at UC Davis for more tests and to biopsy more lymph nodes to get a clearer picture of next steps. I am very thankful for all the prayers on our behalf, the cards, encouragement, and love. God has greatly blessed us. Blessed Easter!

What Jesus Said About Resurrection – Matt De Haan
https://www.rightnowmedia.org/Content/Series/1136
Hear from scholars and authorities in the field of New Testament studies as they explore Jesus’ claims.
The resurrection of Jesus Christ, if it happened, has to be certainly the central event of history in so many ways. —Paul L. Maier, Ph.D.
Although Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life,” a sense of skepticism continues to stir among many. What evidence is there that would suggest any truth in what Jesus said? Why would you have reason to believe?
Travel to Israel with Mart De Haan and hear from scholars and authorities in the field of New Testament studies as they explore Jesus’ claims and examine the evidence for his resurrection. In this 2-part series, you’ll see Jerusalem where Jesus was crucified and buried, and Bethany where, according to the Gospels, he was last seen on earth. Decide for yourself whether or not the resurrection of Jesus is the single most important event in history.
