This Sunday: “Isn’t it All About Me?”
Out next hazard in our “Road Hazard” series has to do with how we think about our relationship with God. Is God’s purpose to serve me? Or is my purpose to serve God? This question is raised by what Jesus found when He went to the temple. Instead of finding a building dedicated to the glory of God, He found a marketplace dedicated to the enrichment of people. What does Jesus teach us in His words and actions at the temple that day?
Live Stream worship begins at 9:30 AM. Please go to this page (https://stjohnslutheran.net/live-streaming-worship-at-st-johns/ to download the handout, and to link to the live stream itself. We will be streaming on our Facebook Page as well: https://www.facebook.com/sjlcnapa

Lent Midweek Service March 10: “A Hidden God”
Our Lent Midweek series is “God of the Cross.” The cross is the primary Christian symbol. Why is it so important? What does the cross reveal about our God?
Sometimes God doesn’t seem to make sense. His purposes are mysterious and hidden. We are used to viewing the cross as the means of saving the world, but from the perspective of the disciples, it looked like anything but salvation. It looked like failure. In the cross, we see that our God is a “hidden” God, often acting in ways that do not make sense to us, but still bring blessings for us and glory for Him.
Our Lent Midweek Services will live stream at 7:00 PM on Wednesdays. Please go to this page (https://stjohnslutheran.net/live-streaming-worship-at-st-johns/ to download the handout, and to link to the live stream itself. We will be streaming on our Facebook Page as well: https://www.facebook.com/sjlcnapa
Lent Wrist Bands
We are making available silicone wrist-bands for the Lenten season. These wrist-bands are purple, the liturgical color for Lent, as a reminder of repentance. They contain the word “Forgiven” along with two crosses as a reminder of the cross and the gift of forgiveness that we have in Christ. The wrist-bands come in three sizes: Adult, youth, and toddler. We encourage you to wear your “Forgiven” wrist-band throughout the season of Lent as a reminder of repentance and forgiveness in the cross.
They can be picked up in the Church Office.

Message from the Mission Farm
Many Hands Make the Work Light! Saturday, March 6, will be a special Work Day at the St. John’s Lutheran Mission Farm, organized by Ron and Lois Johnson, and supported financially by Thrivent Financial. A large turnout of volunteers is desired, whether old regulars at the Farm, or first time volunteers . . . congregation members, school families, or friends of the same . . . or anyone from the general public who likes to engage in projects that improve the quality of life for people in the community. There’s a lot to be done: weeding, planting, perhaps some gleaning, raking chips, fence line construction, and general clean up in preparation for the warm weather crop season. All will contribute to the mission of the Farm, which is to raise fresh produce for distribution by the CANV Food Bank to families in need. Tools will be provided. Treats too! Do bring work gloves, a wide brimmed hat, some water, face covering, and a sense of humor. Begins at 9 a.m. at the Mission Farm, 3521 Linda Vista, Napa.

Right Now Media Recommendation:
What Jesus Said About Who He Is
Matt DeHaan Click Here
Jesus never claimed to be a revolutionary leader or even a great teacher. He claimed to be God- a radical statement that deserves to be examined. How do you know if it’s true? Where can you find evidence to help you better understand His claim?
Travel with Mart De Haan to the northern region of Israel. Hear from scholars and authorities in the field of New Testament studies as they consider the evidence for and against what Jesus said about Himself. Gain insights from the historical and rational perspectives that distinguish Jesus from other founders of world religions. Explore Jesus’ claim, test what He said, and decide for yourself whether or not you have reason to believe.
