Worship for All Saints Sunday, November 1: “Children of God Live in Hope”
On All Saints Day we remember those who have gone before us. Each year we must say goodbye to loved ones who have died in the faith. Even though the power of death has been defeated by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, death continues to afflict us until the Last Day. Our text for today from 1 John comforts us who mourn with the promise that death is not the end for those who are children of God. Children of God live in hope. Christ has made us part of the family for eternity. When Jesus appears we will see Him and we will be like Him. No more sin, no more death, no more tears. Come Lord Jesus, come!
This Sunday’s service will be a Communion service. For more information, please go to the streaming page on the website. (https://stjohnslutheran.net/live-streaming-worship-at-st-johns/

RightNow Media Recommendation for the Week
“Psalm 46”
In this 41-minute session, JR Vassar, Senior Pastor of Church at the Cross in Grapevine, TX, teaches Psalm 46 in light of Jesus’ death on the Cross. He highlights that Jesus had the message of this psalm stripped away from Him in His death so we could sing it forever.

Podcast: The Big Book of New Testament Questions and Answers – narrated by Sarah Kramer
Have you ever wondered, “What does this verse mean?” or “How do I explain this part of the Bible to a non-Christian friend?” Check out this podcast which explores New Testament Q&As collected by Dr. Michael Eschelbach, a theology professor (formerly at Concordia University Chicago, now at CU Irvine), from his students. The first 12 episodes focus on Galatians, with more books to come!
And…if the voice sounds familiar, that’s because St. John’s member Sarah Kramer is the narrator! Please subscribe to the podcast (Apple, Google, Spotify, and more!) to be notified when a new episode is released. Please also rate and review the podcast – the more listeners it has, the more episodes they will make!
Can’t wait? Do you want all the answers now? You can also purchase the book, The Big Book of New Testament Questions and Answers, in paperback or ebook format. There’s more info at www.CPH.org . This is a great resource to help us grow in our faith and knowledge of Scripture and to engage in discussions with fellow Christians and non-believers alike. Enjoy and share!
