Reclaiming our St. John’s Community
Better Together
A Serving Body
September 19, 2021
As We Gather
We continue our series “Better Together” focusing on what it means to be a congregation. We are looking at the Biblical metaphors and images for the local Church, and seeking to apply these truths to our lives, both individually and as a congregation. Along the way, we are inviting your participation in activities and events designed to bring us together as a Church, so that we can rediscover the Biblical truth that as the people of God, we are “better together.”
On Sunday, we consider that we are one body consisting of many parts. Each part is needed and has a role to play in serving for the common good. Each has been gifted by God in order that we might work together as one, with Christ as our head, for the sake of God’s mission and for His glory. How have you been equipped to serve?
Live-stream and in-person worship begin at 9:30 AM. Please CLICK HERE to download the handout, and to link to the live-stream itself.

Sunday Morning Bible Class
The first session in a two-part study of worship was last Sunday. If you would like to view that class, please click on these links:
- Part 1 – https://youtu.be/ofHEXq-BHlA
- Part 2 – https://youtu.be/MawnUvykqM0
Join us this Sunday after worship for the second session on Worship. This week we will be looking at the specific elements in our worship service that can be done multiple ways in multiple styles.
After these two week sessions, Pastor Mike will be convening a discussion group to look at ways to improve the way we worship, for our diverse worshiping community as well as those we seek to draw to Christ.
Foundations: Basic Christian Teachings
Pastor Mike will be leading a seven-session overview of the basic teachings of the Christian Faith. This class will beg on Wednesdays, starting on October 6 through November, at 7:00 – 8:30 in Room 8. This is an opportunity to grow in understanding what it means to follow Jesus, and to learn about what it means to be part of our faith community. Foundations is also part of the process of becoming a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. If you have questions about Foundations or would like to sign up, please contact Pastor Mike or the church office.
Sunday Morning Coffee Fellowship is back.
Looking for help with preparing coffee, refreshments, and set up for Sunday morning fellowship. Please contact Bill or Susan Clark at 707-253-2477 or cwillclark@comcast.net if you would like to help.
Drivers Needed
We have members that no longer drive and need a ride to and from church on Sunday mornings. If you can help, please contact the church office.

Children’s Ministry
Sponsor a Beginner’s Bible… If you attended church as a child you may have received your first Bible from your church family. How old were you? Do you still have that Bible? Because St. John’s Lutheran Preschool is a ministry of St. John’s Lutheran Church, we would like to foster a relationship between congregational members and preschool families.
We have 64 children in the Preschool this year. If you would like to be a blessing to one, two or more children and their families this year, we would like to connect you to the child and their parents. It is our hope that every child will receive a Bible and connect with one or our church families. The suggested donation is $10.00 per Bible.
We will have a table set up on the patio on Sunday, September 19th before and after the worship service. For more info contact Janis King.
