Paul’s Letter to the Colossians
“Laborers For Christ”
January 31, 2021
In this Sunday’s reading from Colossians the Apostle Paul describes how hard he has labored to proclaim the “Word of God in its fullness.” His goal in working so hard for the Colossians is so that “they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding.” Paul recognizes he is only able to do this because of “all the energy Christ so powerfully works” in him. We are also called to be laborers in Christ’s kingdom. How hard are we working to encourage and unite one another? Are we fully relying on the energy of Christ to do this? God’s words through Paul remind us the hard labor of kingdom work is worth it.
Worship will be live stream at 9:30 AM. Please go to this page (https://stjohnslutheran.net/live-streaming-worship-at-st-johns/ to download the handout, and to link to the live stream itself. We will be streaming on our Facebook Page as well: https://www.facebook.com/sjlcnapa
St. John’s and Purple Tier
As you have probably heard, Napa County is no longer under the Shelter-at-Home order. But this does not mean that we can return to indoor in-person worship yet. We are still in “Purple Tier.” When we move to “Red Tier,” we will be able to resume indoor in-person worship. In the meantime, we will continue to live stream worship from the Sanctuary.
Purple Tier allows for outdoor worship, and this will become a possibility as the weather improves.
With the lifting of the Stay Home order, we have re-opened the church office. Please keep in mind that masks are required in the church office, as well as maintaining safe distance.
Family and Children Resources
“Children’s Church Lesson” This is a weekly Sunday School/Children’s church type lesson for parents to lead with small children. Please use this at home during this time when we are unable to offer our regular children’s church. Here are this week’s suggestions:
