This Week’s Memory Verse
“Come, follow Me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.”
Mark 1:7
As We Gather
Our worship series during Epiphany focuses on the identity of Jesus as revealed in the first chapter of the Gospel of Mark. The Gospel beings with these words: “The beginning of the good news about Jesus the Messiah, the Son of God.” Who is this Jesus? What does that mean for us today? We will dig into Mark 1, seeking in God’s Word His call to us today
In Sunday’s passage from Mark 1, we see Jesus pursuing the mission given Him by His Father. Jesus proclaims the coming of the kingdom, and then enlists His team. It is His mission, but He will not pursue it without His followers accompanying Him. The same is true today. We are called to follow Jesus in pursuing His mission to bring His loving redemption to all the world.
First Reading 2 Timothy 3:14-17
Gospel Mark 1:21-28

Gift Cards… Needing ideas on how to budget your spending in 2020? Many people use gift cards (Scrip) to help achieve their goals! Whether you budget weekly or monthly, gift cards could be the answer. Pick up your grocery cards (Safeway, Lucky, Raley’s/Nob Hill, Target or WalMart) gas cards (Arco, Chevron, Shell) Starbucks, Visa etc. and use these instead of cash. Stop by the school office during regular school hours, and purchase your gift cards with the money you have budgeted for these expenses. This may help prevent impulse buying. A listing of cards we have available are attached. Wishing you all a very Happy New Year!!
Social Media at St. John’s… St. John’s and its ministries stay in contact with the community in many ways, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and our own websites. It takes a lot of effort to keep the websites up to date and to keep the communication current and flowing on social media. The social media team is all volunteer and we could use a few more tech-savvy people to help us out. If you are a fan of social media and would like to help us communicate to our members, parents, students, and community, we could use your help. Contact us by email: sjlcsocialmedia@gmail.com
Also, if you have something you’d like to see us talk about or promote on social media, please use the same contact info.
School Campus Security – As part of our Campus Security Plan, we have implemented a security sign-in procedure during the school day. You can sign in either in the church or school office.
