Event Details

Four-Week Bible Class Resurrection and the New Creation When: Four Wednesdays at 7:00 pm – May 10, 17, 24, 31 Where: Room 10 Who: Led by Pastor Mike The Resurrection of Jesus is the central event in the Bible.  It is also to be the central truth that shapes our lives.  We are citizens of the new creation, in which the resurrection of Jesus is at work.  In this four week study, we will explore the reality of the resurrection of Jesus, its meaning and how it shapes not only our hope of eternity, but our lives today.
  • May 10 - The Reality of the Resurrection:   Did the resurrection of Jesus really happen?  Did He truly rise bodily from the grave?  What evidence is there?  We will explore why the resurrection of Jesus is one of best documented events of antiquity.
  • May 17 - The Meaning of the Resurrection:  Why did Jesus rise from the dead?  Why does it figure so prominently in the New Testament writings?  We will look at the meaning of Jesus’ resurrection and what it says about God, us, the creation, and redemption.
  • May 24 - Resurrection and the New Creation:  What are we hoping for?  Is it merely going to heaven when we die?  Or is it something much greater, more universal, and more cosmic?  We will examine what God has prepared for us, the real focus of Christian hope in the new creation.
  • May 31 - Resurrection and the Mission of God:  How then are we to live?  How does the resurrection and the new creation shape the way we live out God’s mission in our lives today?
