First Sunday in Lent
“Deliver Us From Evil”
March 6, 2022
As We Gather
We are engaged in a spiritual struggle with evil every day. In Jesus’ confrontation with Satan in the wilderness, we see Jesus pushing back again temptation with the Word of God. But Jesus is more than an example to follow in our struggles. He is the savior who has triumphed over Satan and all evil for us. By grace we share in that victory.
Live-stream and in-person worship begin at 9:30 AM. Please CLICK HERE to download the link to the live-stream itself.
We will be streaming on our Facebook Page as well: CLICK HERE .
Lent Midweek Series
Witnesses to Christ: People From His Passion
John tells us why he wrote his Gospel: “Jesus did many other signs in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in His name” (John 20:30–31). When we believe that Jesus is the Christ, God gives us life—abundant life, forgiven life, and eternal life.
This Lent in our Midweek Worship series we will hear the witness of those in John’s Gospel who journeyed to the cross. Please join us for worship as we hear the witness of these people in John’s Gospel:
- March 9: Mary, the Sister of Lazarus and Martha, John 12:1–11
- March 16: Malchus, John 18:1–11
- March 23: Peter, John 18:12–27
- March 30: Barabbas, John 18:33–40
- April 6: Pontius Pilate, John 19:1–16
Sunday Bible Class: The Gospel of Matthew
What does it mean to trust Jesus? To rely on Him in the challenges of our lives? This week we continue our study of the 14th chapter of Matthew which includes the Jesus invitation to Peter to come to Him on the water, as well as the feeding of the 5000. In these and other passages in this chapter, we are drawn by the Word to explore the meaning of faith in everyday life. Join us at 11:00 AM in Room 10.
