Attention: We have been having email issues with all our church office email accounts. If you have emailed Pastor Mike, Pastor Mark, Kevin, Tim, or Christy Kramer, it is likely we did not receive them. We are working on getting this fixed. If you have RSVP’d by email for Pastor Mark’s retirement dinner, we probably didn’t get that either. Please call the office to RSVP or email tschmid08@gmail.com. Thank you!
Strength in our Weakness
“Grace That Is Sufficient”
August 1, 2021
As We Gather
We conclude our series “Strength in our Weakness,” by considering suffering, when we most feel our weakness. How do we endure heartaches, losses, and suffering? Paul experienced what he called a “thorn in the flesh.” And though he prayed repeatedly for it to be taken away, the Lord instead called Paul to find strength in God’s grace in the middle of the weakness. The Lord calls us as well to embrace a grace that is sufficient in all our needs.

Farewell and Godspeed for Melissa Ebeling
This Sunday in worship, we will give thanks to God for the ministry of our Kindergarten teacher Melissa Ebeling, and we bless her as she, Kyle, and Ellie begin their new life in Las Vegas.
Welcome New Kindergarten Teacher Ayne Ondek
We are pleased to welcome Mrs. Ayne Ondek as our new Kindergarten teacher. Some may remember Miss Shouse from when she was a teacher in our Preschool program. After relocating to the East Bay, getting married, having a daughter, and obtaining her Master’s degree, Mrs. Ondek and her family are moving back to Napa. Welcome (back) to St. John’s, Mrs. Ondek!

“Instructions for Mission Part 2: Don’t be Afraid”
Join us for Wednesday Night Worship next week. In Matthew 10:26-42, Jesus instructs the 12 disciples He has just chosen for the mission He is sending them on. What do these instructions mean for us today as we serve on the mission field where Jesus has placed us?

Calling all Singers…
For August 15th, I would like to invite anyone who is interested in celebrating Pastor Mark through song to join the choir in singing John Rutter’s “The Lord Bless You and Keep You”. I can pass out music after Sunday services, and I could also leave some copies in the church office. I would encourage those interested to utilize practice parts that are on YouTube. I will hold two rehearsals prior to singing in the August 15th service – August 8th after church, and August 15th prior to the service. All are welcome! Erin Blackwood
Youth Ministry
We have been experiencing a pretty fun summer in Youth Ministry. It has been special because we are coming out of Covid and it’s been refreshing to gather in person once again. Time seems to be flying as we only have a few more summer events before school starts.
Confirmation is approaching as the summer comes to an end. If you or your youth are in 7th or 8th grade keep your eyes open for the Confirmation information.
Follow our page on Instagram @stjohnsnapayouth to stay up to date on what’s happening in the summer.
From our Director of Children’s Ministry
Children’s Church Needs Teachers!!
After a long year of not having Children’s Church for our kids, we are ready to start back up! Our kids need you! We are looking for new and returning volunteers to teach on a regular basis on Sunday mornings. The kids would be excused for part of the service to attend Children’s Church. Ideally, if you work with a partner you might only teach once a month. Currently we have two classes every Sunday. The first is a group of 2nd through 4th graders and the second group is preschool- 1st grade. All of the lessons are provided for you. There is a teacher’s guide which gives you plenty of options on how to teach the main point for the week. Please call and ask questions if you’re interested! I am more than happy to walk you through the process! It would be so sad if we weren’t able to offer this important ministry to our children and families. Our precious children need you!! Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have questions, concerns, etc.
Janis King…..jking@stjohnsnapa.org or call (707) 226-7970 THANK YOU!
