This Week’s Memory Verse
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. ~ Matthew 6:21
As We Gather
Jesus is Lord of all. One of the ways in which this is seen in His ministry are the signs He performed, His miracles. He shows that He is Lord over creation, over sickness, over evil, and even over death. But there is much more going on than merely a demonstration of divine power. Today we begin a new worship series in which we will focus on several key miracles of Jesus, seeking to learn to know Him more and follow Him more closely through what these miracles teach us and show us.
In Sunday’s account of the healing of an official’s son, Jesus laments that the people will not believe unless they see “signs and wonders.” This raises the question of where we place our faith and our certainty. What is the role of the miracles, if not to be the sole basis of faith?
