“Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”
(John 15:13)
This week, we’re focusing especially on reasons to be thankful in all circumstances. Today I am giving thanks to God for first responders.
In times of life threatening danger, most of us are trained to get safe and get away. Today I’m giving thanks to God for those who make the commitment to do the opposite, to rush into danger in order to make others safe. Law enforcement, fire service, and others are routinely exposed to things that the rest of us would prefer never to see no longer how long we live. Thank God there are those who serve in this way!
The willingness to lay down your life for people that you have never met, and how may not even appreciate it is a picture of the self-giving love of Christ. He rushed into the pit of hell for us in order to extinguish the threat of those flames forever.
Thanks be to God for those who are willing lay down their lives for others!
What are you thankful for today?
