There Goes the Neighborhood
The Apostle John sums up the mystery of the incarnation by saying that “the Word became flesh.” The paraphrase translation of the Bible, The Message, puts it this way: “The Word became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighborhood.” On Christmas we celebrate that Jesus moved into humanity’s neighborhood, and into the neighborhood of our lives. What does it mean that we have such a God, and how does that shape how we follow Jesus in our neighborhoods.
