The Uncomfortable Christmas
For many the Christmas season this year has been uncomfortable as a result of COVID. Unemployment, canceled events, stay at home orders, etc. have made for a very different and maybe difficult Christmas. Focusing on past family traditions has been one way to find comfort through the familiar relived memories. The Christmas story presented by Luke brings comfort with the familiar names, places, and events. John’s Gospel presents what might seem like the uncomfortable side of Christmas. God came down because of our sin. The Creator became human. God humbled Himself all the way to the cross. Yet, the uncomfortable brings comfort. God uses the ordinary, what we can understand, to bring us His love and forgiveness which is beyond comprehension.
