This Week’s Memory Verse
And this is love: that we walk in obedience to His commands. As you have heard from the beginning, His command is that you walk in love. ~2 John 6
This Sunday: We continue our worship series on the book of Exodus: “Our Deliverer.” The people of Israel, enslaved and oppressed in Egypt, needed a deliverer to come and save them. We are in need of a deliverer today as well. Thanks be to God that we have deliverance in Jesus Christ, our Savior. As we study the story of Moses and the Israelites, we will be reminded of our deliverer, Jesus Christ, and the call to follow where He leads us.
God gives the people instructions regarding the building of a tabernacle. This would be the place of God’s special presence among His people, where they would gather to make their offerings and to worship Him as their God. Our worship today is much different, and not just because we are of a different culture. We worship on the other side of the cross. How did the worship of the Israelites point to the cross, and how does our worship today celebrate the presence of our Deliverer among us?
