This Week’s Memory Verse
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.”
Matthew 7:7
As We Gather
Who am I listening to? Who or what has my attention? While I may answer that question one way with my words, does my life answer it in a different way? We live in a time of information overload, overwhelmed by messages, bombarded by communication. There is so much to hear. How do we discern what is most valuable to listen to? What messages are we allowing to shape our identity, our thinking, our actions, our hearts, and our lives?
On the mount of Transfiguration, Jesus revealed His glory to Peter, James, and John. The Father spoke from the cloud in words that echo the baptism of Jesus. But this time, He includes the directive, “Listen to Him.” The words of the Father echo across the centuries into our worship today, calling us to discern the voice of the Savior in our lives and to truly listen to Him.
First Reading Exodus 24:8-18

Second Reading 2 Peter 1:16-21

Social Media at St. John’s… St. John’s and its ministries stay in contact with the community in many ways, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and our own websites. It takes a lot of effort to keep the websites up to date and to keep the communication current and flowing on social media. The social media team is all volunteer and we could use a few more tech-savvy people to help us out. If you are a fan of social media and would like to help us communicate to our members, parents, students, and community, we could use your help. Contact us by email: sjlcsocialmedia@gmail.com
Also, if you have something you’d like to see us talk about or promote on social media, please use the same contact info.
