The stay at home order goes into effect at 11:59 PM tonight (Thursday). What does it mean for St. John’s?
School: The order will change nothing for our school. We are operating on an approved hybrid plan waiver which means that the school can continue operating as it has been.
Church Office: The church office is closed beginning Friday, December 18. We will still be answering phones and emails and texts. If there is something you need to drop off or pick up from the office, please notify ahead so that arrangements can be made.
Worship: We will continue our live stream only worship. The service will continue to be prepared and streamed from the sanctuary with our minimal tech crew.
For all of us: I encourage you to take the stay home order seriously. We strongly advise those who are considered more vulnerable to be especially careful as this COVID-19 continues to surge in our community. But this is for all of us: We show our love for our neighbors by doing all that we can to help prevent the spread of this illness. As Paul says in Philippians 2:3-4 – “In humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.”
Please consider reaching out to people you know who are alone and may be lonely. Christmas is a very hard time to have a stay home order.
Please pray for our community:
- For those who are ill
- For the health care workers
- For those whose employment and income will be affected by this order
- For those who are especially vulnerable to COVID-19
- For those who are by themselves and lonely
- For our government leaders
This is a major disruption to how we would like to celebrate the birth of the Savior. But we will still celebrate in different ways! We will rejoice in the grace of a savior who underwent the greatest of all disruptions, leaving His heavenly throne to be born as a helpless baby for us. And because of that grace we have an answer and hope beyond all illness and pandemic and loss. “Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift! (2 Corinthians 9:15).”
In Christ,
Pastor Mike
