This Week’s Memory Verse
“For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from observing the law.”
Romans 3:28
We continue our worship series on Paul’s letter to the Romans. Grace was the heart of the message that Paul preached. As he began to prepare to go to Rome to preach and teach there, he sent a letter to the church to serve as an introduction to his message. That letter, Paul’s letter to the Romans, is the most systematic and thorough treatment of the plan of salvation in the New Testament. Reading almost like a theology text book, Paul lays out the need for grace and the amazing gift of grace.
Being justified by grace through faith is not a new concept that just came into being with Paul’s preaching. Paul points out that Abraham was in fact saved by faith as well. Just as Abraham needed this gift of grace, so we need it today also. We haven’t fallen very far from the tree of our spiritual forefather Abraham.
