As We Gather
There’s a saying that goes like this: “God likes to forgive. I like to sin. Sounds like a good combination.” It’s possible to look at the free forgiveness in Christ, which is given not on the basis of our good deeds, and wonder, “What’s the point of being good?” In light of Christ’s mercy, why should we be good? In Romans 6, Paul points to an answer that is not rooted in God’s law or fear of punishment, but rather to the identity what we have in Christ through baptism.
On Sunday, we celebrate the Baptism of Jesus. As is our custom, we will also celebrate the Baptisms of all who were baptized at St. John’s in 2021.
Live-stream and in-person worship begin at 9:30 AM. Please CLICK HERE to download the link to the live-stream itself.
We will be streaming on our Facebook Page as well: CLICK HERE

Sunday Bible Class: The Gospel of Matthew
Pastor Mike will be leading a study of the Gospel of Matthew on Sundays after Worship beginning this Sunday, January 9. This is a continuation of the study that he was leading for “Wednesday Night Worship.” In this week’s session, Pastor Mike will present an overview of Matthew 1-10 (the structure and themes), and then begin Matthew chapter 11. You are encouraged to bring a Bible. All are welcome!
Sunday Bible Class: Psalm 23
Joel Wahlers will be leading a Bible Study after the Sunday worship service on Psalm 23 starting January 9. Many people are familiar with Psalm 23. But because we all know it, we often breeze through the psalm without slowing down long enough to rest in the assurance it offers. This is a six -week study using materials from Rightnow Media, which includes short videos from pastor Matt Chandler who introduces us to the Great Shepherd, the Lord, who promises to provide for every need of His flock. This psalm teaches us profound truths about our loving and protective God. By studying Psalm 23, we’ll encounter a life-transforming question: Do you trust the Lord to care for your needs?
Workshop: Joining Jesus On His Mission February 5
Rev. Greg Finke, author of Joining Jesus on His Mission, will be leading a workshop at St. John’s on February 5, 2022. Rev Finke, founder of Dwelling 114 Ministries (dwelling114.org) will be with us that weekend to help us grow in being the everyday missionaries that God has called us to be.
The workshop on Saturday morning, February 5, will take place in the Sanctuary from 9:00 – 12:00. Rev. Finke will also be preaching at St. John’s on Sunday, February 6 and will be leading a Bible class in the sanctuary after worship.
