As We Gather
The message of today’s Gospel, the account of Jesus’ Transfiguration, comes through loud and clear when the Voice from Heaven says, “When My Son speaks, you listen up, you hear?” Given that this command comes from the highest level of authority, it would be wise for us to do so.
But listening can be a problem for many of us . . . listening to anyone. We may literally have a hearing problem. Even if our hearing is OK, we often fail to listen. Even if we listen, we often fail to put into practice what we learned by hearing. Our listening problem is made even more complicated by the fact we are flooded with so many messages, so much information, and so much “fake news”. Who then do we listen to, and who is to be believed? The Voice from heaven helps us focus on the Someone we should listen to, and the Someone we can fully trust, and why!
We will be celebrating Holy Communion at this service.
We will be streaming on our Facebook Page as well: CLICK HERE .
Live-stream and in-person worship begin at 9:30 AM. Please CLICK HERE to download the link to the live-stream itself.
February 22 is Ash Wednesday
Our Ash Wednesday service will be at 7:00 PM in the Sanctuary. This service will include Communion and the Imposition of Ashes. Please come also for the Soup Supper in the Parish Hall at 6:00 PM.
Lent Midweek Series
Forgive: Why Should We and How Can We? Jesus calls us to forgive one another as we have been forgiven. In The Lord’s Prayer, He turns that around and instructs us to ask to be forgiven in the same way we forgive others. What is very clear is that it is very important to the Lord that His followers lead lives of mercy and forgiveness in our dealings with others. But how do we do this? Doesn’t forgiveness let people off the hook? What if I don’t feel like forgiving? Does God really expect me to forgive everyone?
The series begins on Ash Wednesday as we look at the parable of the unmerciful servant (Matthew 18:21-35). This parable illustrates the reason for the Lord’s call to forgive. We who have been forgiven so much are called to forgive the sins committed against us.
