State and County Allow In Person Worship
The Napa County Shelter-at-home order was updated yesterday to allow for the reopening of in-person worship at churches, provided that they follow the state guidance released by the Governor Newsom on Monday.
We are planning to reopen as soon as we can do so safely and in accord with the state guidance. That being said, we will not be reopening this Sunday, May 31, because we are not ready. Please watch for updated announcements regarding when we will be resuming in-person worship.
Please note also that returning to in-person worship does not mean that we are returning to worship in a way that is familiar. There will be many changes to how we worship, and how we interact when we are in the sanctuary. We will keep you informed regarding the upcoming changes in how we worship.
We will continue to offer live stream worship services as well. Our ability to provide a quality live stream service from the sanctuary is limited. We are currently at work to make significant upgrades to our streaming capability, but that project will not be completed for several weeks. In the meantime, we will stream as we are able. There may be a time when we offer both in-person worship and the same type of streaming service that we have been doing.
We ask for your prayers. Please pray for our St. John’s community as we make this transition. Pray for wisdom, guidance, and safety for all of us.
Streaming Worship for May 31: Pentecost
Jesus told His disciples to stay put until He sent them the Holy Spirit (Luke 24:49, Acts 1:4). We might say that He gave them a shelter-at-home quarantine order. But when the Holy Spirit came, the quarantine was over. Filled by the Spirit, the disciples burst out of the shelter of the upper room into the mission field the Lord had prepared for them. The same Jesus has sent the same Spirit to us to lead us beyond the limitations that keep us from embracing His mission. How is the Holy Spirit leading you into the mission field today?
Please go to this page (https://stjohnslutheran.net/live-streaming-worship-at-st-johns/) for information regarding the services and to link to the live stream itself. For all our services, we encourage you to download the worship handout prior to the service. The handout contains the words to the hymns and songs, as well as the readings, and the other components of the service. The handout also describes how to worship the Lord with your offering.
The Lord’s Supper will be celebrated on May 31.

Green Thumb?
Our Bell Tower Flower Garden is in need of a little love. We’re hoping to have the flower bed weeded and spruced up before we reopen worship on our campus. If you are interested, just come on by, or contact the church office if you have questions.
