Worship for August 30: “David and Abner: The Way of Wisdom?”
Proverbs 3:5-6 speak of true wisdom: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” True wisdom is hearing the Word of God and seeking to follow Him in all of our ways.
Today, we hear about David, Abner, Ish-Bosheth, and Joab. These men were called to follow the path of wisdom but instead leaned on their own understanding as they pursued their political and personal goals. How is God calling you and me to wisdom in our lives?
Please go to this page (https://stjohnslutheran.net/live-streaming-worship-at-st-johns/) for information regarding the service , to download the handout, and to link to the live stream itself.

Devotional Service in the Faith Chapel
There will be a devotional service on Saturday, August 29 at 5:00 PM in the Faith Chapel. This will be a time to gather (safely) outside to sing, to hear God’s word and a devotion, to pray, and to be together. If you are interested in coming to this gathering, keep these things in mind:
- Bring your own chair
- Wear your mask
- Maintain six feet distance from those outside your family group.
After the service we will have a discussion about whether to have additional gatherings. If you have questions about this gathering, please contact Pastor Mike or Pastor Mark.
PLEASE NOTE: If we need to cancel the devotional service because of poor air quality, this will be communicated on our FaceBook page, and a special E-vine.

COVID Testing at St. John’s
St. John’s Lutheran Church and School is hosting PMH Laboratory to provide COVID 19 testing to our church and school community. The purpose of this event is to assure that our community has access to accurate testing with timely results. Per the governor’s orders, all members of our faculty and staff shall test at least once every other month and we’re hoping that by providing these scheduled events and extending it to our church and school community, it will be a convenient option and opportunity for our community. Our scheduled event will be on Tuesday, September 1, 2020 from 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

The online scheduler will send reminders to each participant by email and text message 24 hours and 2 hours prior to their scheduled appointment. The sign up is open now and will be through Friday evening, August 28. The cost of the testing should be covered by your medical insurance.
