This Week’s Memory Verse
While He was still speaking, a bright cloud covered them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is My Son, whom I love; with Him I am well pleased. Listen to Him!” Matthew 17:5
As We Gather
This Lent, we are invited to go on the 40 day journey once again. Although we will be reading the same devotions and pursuing the same challenges, our Sunday worship will take a different direction, a Lent direction. Discipleship is all about following and imitating Jesus. So we will focus on Jesus as He approaches the cross and we will see in Him the blessing and challenge of the five targets of the Red Letter Challenge: Being, Forgiving, Serving, Giving, Going.
Sunday’s focus is “Being.” Our discipleship begins with and is empowered by spending time with Jesus. We do this through worship, by being in the Word, having an active prayer life, as well as in other ways. Before His arrest, trial and crucifixion, Jesus spends this time with His Father, and finds strength for the journey ahead. Jesus did not only encourage us to spend time with the Father by His words; He also shows us and encourages us by His example.
