“No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
(Romans 8:37-39)
This week, we’re focusing especially on reasons to be thankful in all circumstances. Today I am giving thanks to God’s love is constant.
Going through hard times usually involves some big change in our lives – and usually a change that we didn’t ask for or expect. Whether it’s a job loss, a health crisis, family turmoil, or the death of a loved one, we are having deal with change and upheaval as something very important to us is taken away or impaired.
We can be thankful in these circumstances that the love of God is constant and can never change. No matter what we are going through, the cross of Jesus is still our salvation. The love of God in Christ for us cannot be taken away. The gift of the Kingdom of God and the certain hope of the resurrection will never be taken away. The love of God in Christ is a solid foundation beneath our feet, a sure anchor in a stormy sea, a north star to guide us on.
Not even our sins can nullify the love of God. This is why it is so important that we ground our understanding of the nature of God’s love in the cross of Christ. The cross cannot be undone. God’s love is sure.
Thanks be to God for His constant, unchanging love.
