But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
(Galatians 5:22-23)
I am giving thanks to God today for the power of the Holy Spirit in my life. This is another profound blessing that is ours along with our salvation in Christ.
Not only am I blessed with the presence of Christ (yesterday’s theme), I am also blessed with the power of the Holy Spirit. What does this mean in my life?
- The Holy Spirt is at work in my life bringing forth the fruits of love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control, as Galatians 5:22-23 states.
- The Holy Spirit is the source of my faith. “No one can say, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ except by the Holy Spirit.” (1 Corinthians 12:3)
- The Holy Spirit is taking part in my prayers and interceding for me. “In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirithimself intercedes for us through wordless groans.” (Romans 8:26)
- The Holy Spirit has gifted me for life in the church. “All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.” (1 Corinthians 12:11)
- The Holy Spirit teaches me the things of God. “This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words.” (1 Corinthians 2:13)
- The Holy Spirit empowers me for participating in God’s mission. “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:8)
That’s quite a list of blessings. And there is so much more. The point is that there is not a single aspect of my life in which God has left me to rely on my own power. The Holy Spirit is at work in my life, to God’s glory, to the good of the those around me, and for the sake of God’s mission. Thanks be to God for this gift!

Thank you Holy Spirit for the favors received.
Holy Spirit Lord , Thou who makes me see everything and show me the way to reach my ideal. You who give me the divine gift to forgive and forget all the wrong that is done to me and you who are in all instances of my life with me. I, in this short dialogue, want to thank you for everything and confirm once more that I never want to be separated from you no matter how great the material desires may be. I want to be with you and my loved ones in your perpetual glory. Amen.
