Bible Sponsorship for 8th Grade Students
We would like to send our 8th graders off to high school with a new study bible. Would you like to help by sponsoring one of these Bibles and sending an encouraging card to one of them?
All of our students receive Bibles in the 2nd grade. But many of them are in sorry shape by the end of 8th grade. This is not a bad thing! It shows they have been used! We want to bless our 8th graders as they graduate with a new study bible that contains to encourage them to continue exploring and growing in God’s Word. Here is more information about the bible https://www.zondervan.com/9780310941767/niv-quest-study-bible-for-teens-hardcover/
If you are interested, what should you do?
- Please contact the church office or Pastor Mike (pastormike@stjohnslutheran.net). If there is a specific 8th grader that you would like to sponsor, let us know. Otherwise we will pick one for you and share with you his or her name.
- Write a letter or card for the student to go with the Bible. This can be a graduation card, or a simple note card.
- Get the card or letter to the church office. You can drop it off or mail it. Please get them to us by June 1.
- Make your donation. The Bibles are $27. Please mark your donation “8th grade bibles”
When they graduate, the students will receive the Bible you have gifted along with your card or letter.
If you have any questions, please ask Pastor Mike.

School Chapel Service celebrating Bob Hauch’s faith
This week’s school chapel (Wednesday at 2:00 PM) will feature songs by Bob Hauch. On May 27th, it will have been 10 years since teacher Bob Hauch went to be with Jesus. We will be remembering him, his faith, and his legacy of following Jesus. Please go to the St. John’s streaming page to connect: https://stjohnslutheran.net/live-streaming-worship-at-st-johns/
Wednesday Night Worship for May 20
We continue our walk through the Gospel of Matthew. Next week we look at Matthew 2:13-23 with our theme: “A Clash of Kings, Part 2.” The conflict with King Herod not only foreshadows future persecution for Jesus and His followers; it also gives us a picture of the need for our Savior.
