Pursuing the Good Life

Do you want the Good Life in 2015?  Jesus wants you to have a good life.   He wants you to have THE good life.

No, we’re not suddenly promoting a “prosperity gospel,” the notion that if you follow Jesus, nothing bad will happen to you and you’ll be rich.  But the Bible does clearly state the Jesus came that we might “have life and have it to the full” (John 10:10). 

The Christian life is not supposed to be one of dour privation, but rather one of joy and peace, a true “life to the full.” But how do we pursue this good life?  Too often our lives are full of stress and we feel robbed of the peace that we feel we should have.  Are we doing something wrong?  What would our Lord have us do?

On January 18, we will begin new worship series “Pursuing the Good Life.”  We will look at the words and ways of Jesus about what we value and how we spend it.  We will look at our lives in terms of how we are investing and how we are spending the “capital” or “resources” that we have. 

What resources are we talking about?  We’ll look at our spiritual, relational, physical, intellectual and financial resources.  Are we keeping these in the proper priority?  Are we spending these resources, this capital, in a way that leads to the “good life”?
