This Week’s Memory Verse
And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
Colossians 3:17
As We Gather
What are you thankful for? What are you thanking God for today? This is the theme of our worship series for the month of November. For four Sundays in November, we will be focusing on gratitude to the Lord for His gifts. Think of this series as “advent” for Thanksgiving. Each Sunday, we will focus on a different biblical character who is a model of thankfulness. We will see in that person’s story a call to be thankful to God in our own lives.
On Sunday, we focus on giving “thanks to God in all circumstances.” This is what Paul wrote to the Thessalonians. Because of the great promises that we have in Christ, we can be thankful even in the most challenging times. We do not necessarily give thanks for all circumstances, but because of Christ we can give thanks in all circumstances.
First Reading 2 Chronicles 20:1-30
Psalm 121
Second Reading 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Gospel Matthew 6:25-34

Thanksgiving Living – Our new worship series begins this Sunday. Welcome to “Advent” for Thanksgiving! The four week series focusing on living in thankfulness for God’s Gifts. Similar to Red Letter Challenge, this series involves worship, a daily devotion and a daily challenge
- Worship: Each Sunday will focus on a bible character who illustrates thanksgiving living. Our major themes will be thanksgiving for salvation, for God’s provision, for people, for answered prayer, and being able to be thankful in all circumstances.
- Daily Thanksgiving Living Devotion – The Abide Devotion will focus each day on thanksgiving for God’s gifts, following the Sunday themes. Click here to sign up to receive the Abide devotion each day by email.
- Daily Thanksgiving Living Challenge – What are you thankful for? Identify each day at least one new thing to be thankful to God for. Write it down on a calendar or journal, share with your family and friends, or post on social media.

Social Media at St. John’s… St. John’s and its ministries stay in contact with the community in many ways, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and our own websites. It takes a lot of effort to keep the websites up to date and to keep the communication current and flowing on social media. The social media team is all volunteer and we could use a few more tech-savvy people to help us out. If you are a fan of social media and would like to help us communicate to our members, parents, students, and community, we could use your help. Contact us by email: sjlcsocialmedia@gmail.com
Also, if you have something you’d like to see us talk about or promote on social media, please use the same contact info.
