Psalm 22:29-31
29 All the rich of the earth will feast and worship; all who go down to the dust will kneel before him— those who cannot keep themselves alive.
30 Posterity will serve him; future generations will be told about the Lord.
31 They will proclaim his righteousness, declaring to a people yet unborn: He has done it! [1]
________________
What is striking here is the inclusion of telling future generations about what the Lord has done. The saving work of God is never just the saving work by itself. Integral to the salvation plan is the spreading of the Word, telling others what God has done. For this is the means by which “future generations” will be able to receive the blessings that the Lord has accomplished by finishing His work.
And to accomplish this task, the Lord has sent us. We are not only the future generations envisioned here; we are the ones who will continue to tell future generations so that they can tell future generations. We are included right here in the psalm in verse 30-31, declaring to people around us and to those yet unborn that the Lord has accomplished salvation for all.
So my prayer today is simply for the mission of God in the lives of all of His people, beginning with myself. I pray that this day, His people would embrace this vision and do what He leads them to do to proclaim to future generations.
What is the Word leading you to pray about today?
