This Week’s Memory Verse
The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.” ~Exodus 14:14
This Sunday: We continue our worship series on the book of Exodus: “Our Deliverer.” The people of Israel, enslaved and oppressed in Egypt, needed a deliverer to come and save them. We are in need of a deliverer today as well. Thanks be to God that we have deliverance in Jesus Christ, our Savior. As we study the story of Moses and the Israelites, we will be reminded of our deliver, Jesus Christ, and the call to follow where He leads us.
The Israelites are in the wilderness on the way to the promised land. But even though they have witnessed God’s gracious deliverance, they grumble against His provision. Can we see ourselves in their grumbling? But can we see ourselves also in God’s gracious provision? May God be praised for His blessings of daily bread!
· Exodus 16:1-17:7
· John 6:35-51
· Abide Daily Devotion: How do I let Scripture guide my prayer life? How can I let Jesus direct what I pray for each day? The Abide Devotion, written by Pastor Mike, is a daily devotion designed to address these concerns. You can click here for more information and to subscribe to receive the devotion in your email each morning.
· Just a reminder that TRUNK OR TREAT begins at 5:00 PM on Sunday, October 26th, in the Parish Hall/Gym. Please remember this is an event that includes small children so please be mindful of that when decorating your trunks and choosing your costumes! We don’t want to scare the little ones! The Youth Group will be selling pizza slices for $2.00, water for $1.00, and special Halloween Cookies for $2.00 at the snack bar! The proceeds from the pizza and water go to the Youth Group and the proceeds from the cookies are going to help Mrs. Zehner. Thank you to Melissa Teaff for making the fabulous cookies and donating them to the cause!
· Mission Farm Pumpkins Available: We still have pumpkins available for a free-will offering. Pumpkins are sitting behind the drying shed in the fruit tree area. Please help yourself. Donations may be given to the church or school offices. If writing a check, make checks payable to St. John’s Lutheran Church, and in the memo section write “Pumpkin”. Proceeds go to the Mission Farm Ministry. Thanks for your support!
· New AED in Parish Hall – Thanks to funding from Thrivent and our school’s Association of Parents and Teachers (APT), we now have an additional AED Defibrillator mounted in the Parish Hall. Our campus now has three AED Defibrillators in the Staff Room, the Church Narthex, and now the Parish Hall.
· With Love From Home: Operation With Love from Home will be collecting sweets for our troops. Every care package sent to our troops is sweetened up with a yummy bag of assorted candy. It is just one of the items the troops really enjoy…a little taste to remind them of home. Halloween is the perfect time to donate candy. When purchasing your Halloween candy, consider picking up an extra bag and bring it to the school office. Girl Scout Troop #10862 will set up a bin at the school office for collections. Also, if you find you have a little extra candy left after all the festivities, bag it up and bring it in.
· 6:00 PM Prayer Time: Our Lunch Bunch Bible Study group agreed to pray each evening at 6 PM for the safety of the U. S., our troops, our citizens, and our nation. We invite you to join us in prayer at this time wherever you are.
· Molly’s Angels is requesting that local churches help them provide Christmas gifts at their annual party in December for our Napa senior citizens on fixed incomes. Please consider donating items such as scarves, hats, gloves, jelly, craft items, kitchen towels, large print devotions, books, music, etc. Small gift bags are also needed for all the gifts. You will find a collection box in the Narthex. We will collect through Thanksgiving.
· St. John’s Lutheran School proudly presents… Disney’s Peter Pan, Jr. is an adaptation of the classic 1953 animated feature film based on J. M. Barrie’s timeless story!
