This Week’s Memory Verse
Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth. ~Philippians 2:9-10
As We Gather
What is a disciple? What does a disciple do? At its heart discipleship is following Jesus. Discipleship is seeking to live all of our lives as an expression of faith in Him. Our goal at St. John’s is to make disciples. This is the goal for all who are served by this ministry:
- Constant in Prayer
- Grounded in the Word
- Faithful in Worship
- Spiritual Friendships
- Loving Service
- Intentional Generosity
- Compassionate Witness
Today we focus on fifth mark of discipleship: “Loving Service.” Just as Jesus came not to be served but to serve, so a disciple seeks to be a servant as well. How is Jesus calling you to follow His example in loving service to others?
- First Reading Isaiah 58:1-14
- Psalm Psalm 15
- Second Reading Philippians 2:1-11
- Holy Gospel John 13:1-17
