This Week’s Memory Verse
“Do not think that I have come to abolish the Lar or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.” ~Matthew 5:17
This Sunday: Last fall we journeyed through the book of Exodus, walking with the people of God as they were delivered from slavery in Egypt. This summer we will pick up the story of God’s deliverance of His people and continue their trek through the wilderness – both physical and spiritual – as He leads them at last across the Jordan to the Promised Land.
The people of Israel are complaining again. This time it is about the bread and the water. “This miserable food,” they call it. Where is their thankfulness for God’s gifts? Where is their appreciation for what He has provided? But can we see ourselves in their complaining? May God bless us with a spirit of thankfulness, rather than a spirit of discontent!
