This Week’s Memory Verse
I am not ashamed of the Gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. For in the Gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.” ~Romans 1:16-17
As We Gather
Epiphany is about Jesus shining forth into the world as Savior. He shines forth as Savior to the nations, pictured in the adoration of the Magi. He shines forth in His baptism, proclaimed by the Father to be His beloved Son. Today we see Him shine forth in overcoming an unclean spirit. He is the light that overcomes all that is evil and wicked in our world, triumphing over all darkness by the brilliance of His cross and resurrection.
Old Testament Deuteronomy 18:15–20
Psalm Psalm 111
Epistle 1 Corinthians 8:1–13
Gospel Mark 1:21–28
