The E-Vine: A Weekly News Update from St. John’s May 21, 2015
This Week’s Memory Verse
And God placed all things under His feet and appointed Him to be head over everything for the Church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills everything in every way.
Ephesians 1:22-23
This Sunday we celebrate Pentecost. Are you a “spiritual” person? What does that mean? Sometimes people make a distinction between spirituality and religion, claiming to be spiritual but not religious. But what does it mean to be “spiritual” in the Christian sense, that is, led by the Holy Spirit? Does that make us more or less “religious” or something else altogether? Today on Pentecost Sunday, may the Holy Spirit draw us and empower us as we worship Jesus.

- Bereavement Presentation – Sponsored By The Disability Ministry Taskforce. A presentation on dealing with bereavement, your own and those close to you, will be offered on Wednesday, May 27, 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. in St. John’s Parish Hall. Many people are aware of the stages of grief, but we hear little about normal vs. complicated bereavement, about what makes grief more or less likely to resolve, etc. This presentation, led by a professional PhD in clinical psychology who is also a Christian, will address these issues. This is one of a series of educational presentations being sponsored by the congregation’s Disability Ministry Task Force. It is open to the public as well as members. Handouts will be made available. Light refreshments will also be served. For further information, contact Ron Johnson, 299-9517.
