This Week’s Memory Verse
So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. ~Galatians 3:26-28
As We Gather
The celebration of the Lord’s Supper is a celebration of His redeeming death and resurrection for us. It is also a celebration of the unity which we have in Him. As we eat the bread, which is His body, and drink the wine, which is His blood, we are one with Him and each other. But what happens when a congregation is not unified? What does it mean when the focus is more on individual concerns than oneness with brothers and sisters in Christ? This is what was happening in Corinth, and it leads Paul to write strong words to them, calling them to “discern the body” as they gather for the meal. What does this mean for us today?
