This Week’s Memory Verse
Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus. ~Philippians 2:5
This Sunday: “Now the LORD God had planted a garden in the east, in Eden; and there He put the man He had formed.” (Genesis 2:8) “At the place where Jesus was crucified, there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb, in which no one had ever been laid… since the tomb was nearby, they laid Jesus there.” (John 19:41-42) Adam, the first gardener, failed in the task of gardening, which brought sin and death into the world. In the Easter Gospel reading Mary mistakes Jesus for a gardener. Is it a mistake? He did the work in the Garden of Gethsemane, on the cross, and in the garden of the tomb in order to undo the curse brought about in the Garden of Eden. He brings forgiveness and life. Jesus continues to be the gardener who desires to bring about growth and fruit in our lives through His mercy and grace.
