Hebrews: Jesus is Better
“A Better Covenant”
October 9, 2022
Please CLICK HERE to download the service notes.
As We Gather
Is my relationship with God based on my performance? Is His love and favor conditional on my faithfulness? The Bible clearly teaches that this is not the case for those who belong to Christ. We are not under a conditional covenant, but rather an unbreakable covenant of grace. Today we continue looking at Jesus, the better High Priest, who has brought about this new covenant.
We will be celebrating Holy Communion at this service.
Live-stream and in-person worship begin at 9:30 AM. Please CLICK HERE to download the link to the live-stream itself.
We will be streaming on our Facebook Page as well: CLICK HERE .

Sunday Bible Classes
Foundations: Basic Christian Teachings
Pastor Mike is leading a nine-session overview of the basic teachings of the Christian Faith on Sundays at 11:00 in Room 10. This class is an opportunity to grow in understanding what it means to follow Jesus, and to learn about what it means to be part of our faith community.
This week we focus on the end of the Christian story, the return of Christ in glory and the resurrection and restoration that will happen at that time. We also spend some time exploring the reality of the resurrection of Jesus, and its centrality to the Christian faith.

Romans
Joel Wahlers is leading a study of the book of Romans on Sundays at 11:00 in Room 8. Paul’s letter to the Romans is considered by many to be one of the most important books ever written on the Christian faith. Writing to Christians, the apostle Paul defines the Gospel, explores its depths, and discusses its significance and implications for the Christian life. This class makes use of Right Now Video teaching by J.D. Greear.
Women’s Bible Study
The Women’s Bible study will next meet on October 18 at 10:00 AM in Room 10. All are invited! The study will be using “Christ Esteem” by Don Matzat.
Christian History Almanac
In the sermon last Sunday, September 25, Pastor Mike mentioned the “Christian History Almanac” and the way Dr. Van Voorhis signs off each day. If you would like to check out the daily podcast, please search online for “Christian History Almanac” or CLICK HERE.
New Setting of the Liturgy
Last Sunday we introduced two parts of an alternate setting of the liturgy, the “Lord Have Mercy (Kyrie)” and the “Glory to God (Gloria).” Over the next couple of months we’ll be adding the rest of this setting of the service. We will be introducing the “Holy Holy Holy (Sanctus)” on October 9.
